Jute fabric is back in fashion!

Jute curtains and burlap for upholstery are back in style. Create a rustic atmosphere and a decoration full of character.

Unleash your imagination by choosing your favorite burlap color or the classic natural jute tone, and paint your own creations on burlap fabric.

You can use burlap fabric to decorate chairs, armchairs, wardrobes and furniture, cushions, hide imperfections, even cover ceilings. You can also change the look of your walls with wall-covered jute fabric, using top-quality burlap fabrics.

How to wash jute?

Burlap must be washed carefully in cold water. Jute fabric can fray if not handled properly—remember that it is a 100% natural fabric.

Hand washing

  • Hand washing is recommended for small burlap pieces.
  • The steps are simple: wash with cold water, as heat may cause the fabric to shrink.
  • Use a liquid detergent specially formulated for delicate fabrics.
  • Soak the jute fabric for 5 minutes (longer soaking may damage the fabric).
  • Gently rub the fabric to remove stains or impurities.
  • Rinse the natural fabric with cold water.
  • Do not wring or twist the burlap, as this may damage or distort it.
  • Dry the fabric between two towels, replacing them as needed until the moisture is absorbed.

Machine washing

  • Keep in mind that machine washing is more aggressive than hand washing, so avoid it for more delicate jute items.
  • Select the delicate cycle, always with cold water and a mild liquid detergent.
  • You may use a specific liquid fabric softener to soften the fabric.
  • Air-dry the burlap fabric. Place the natural fabric between two chairs and let it dry for several hours. For best results, iron the fabric while it is still slightly damp.

How to remove stains from burlap upholstery fabric?

We recommend using a vacuum cleaner to remove dust from the upholstery fabric before treating the stain. This helps prevent streaks that are difficult to remove.

Next, dampen a sponge with cold water and ammonia, and gently rub it over the burlap fabric to remove stains.

One final tip: if the stain persists, you can paint the fabric and give your home a fresh, creative new look.
