How to print on jute: personalize and reuse creatively
At Deyute, we believe that renewing is also a way of recycling. Giving a second life to your furniture or home textiles is easier than it seems, and jute is a perfect material for this thanks to its natural texture, strength and timeless style.
Today we show you how you can print on jute fabric in a simple, affordable and creative way. Ideal for personalizing cushions, armchairs, bedspreads, bags or any other decorative item.
What do you need?
-
A computer and a printer
-
Transfer paper (choose dark paper for dark fabrics and light paper for light or pale fabrics)
-
A household iron
-
A matte finish spray (optional, but recommended)
Step by step
1. Design your image or text
Use any program such as Word, Canva, Photoshop or similar. Make sure to save the file in high resolution to ensure good print quality.
2. Print on transfer paper
Follow the instructions provided by the paper manufacturer. Let the ink dry for a few seconds before handling it. Cut around your design, leaving approximately a 2–3 cm margin.
3. Transfer the image onto the jute
Place the printed paper onto the fabric with the design facing down. Cover with a clean cloth and apply the hot iron for the time indicated by the manufacturer.
4. Set the design
Once cooled, carefully remove the transfer paper. To extend the life of the print, lightly spray with a matte finish aerosol.
Creativity that adds value to the planet
This process will not only allow you to personalize your objects in a unique way, but it is also an excellent way to reuse and avoid waste. Renewing is a way to take care of the environment—and doing it with jute… even more so!
At Deyute, we promote the creative and responsible use of natural materials.
Get inspired, create, and give new life to what you already have.
